People's Daily Online, Beijing, April 24 Setting up a stage to sing Peking Opera, deciphering the nine-link chain, making Poria cakes... Recently, the Experimental Primary School in Chaoyang District, Beijing, held a practical activity with the theme of "Hand in Hand on the Belt and Road, Seeing the World with 'One Class, One Country'". It attracted ambassadors, wives of ambassadors, counselors from 12 countries including Italy, Malaysia, and Peru, as well as 30 students from Pakistani primary schools to experience traditional Chinese culture projects.

Twelve booths for the learning achievements of countries and regions along the “One Belt and One Road” were set up at the event site. Students used the booths to introduce and display the customs and customs of the “Belt and Road” and China’s traditional culture to Chinese and foreign friends. Guests from the embassies of various countries can not only appreciate the national culture of their own countries, but also feel the diverse cultures of the “Belt and Road” countries and regions.

In order to better spread China’s excellent traditional culture, this event also opened 28 traditional Chinese culture experience areas, where you can experience tie-dying, making woolly monkeys, playing foreign films, and writing Chinese calligraphy, which attracted the attention of guests from embassies from various countries and participated in the experience.

“What we are showing is the history of the deformation of Chinese characters and the invention of papermaking. I found that the foreign guests know Chinese culture very well, and when I communicate with them, they also listen with interest.” said Ni Xiang, a sixth-grade class one of the Experimental Primary School in Chaoyang District, Beijing.

It is understood that in November 2016, the school carried out the "Belt and Road" practical activities, and adopted the approach of "one class" docking with "one country", using social practice activities in winter and summer vacations and class social practice activities to carry out activities such as learning knowledge about the "Belt and Road", visiting embassies, visiting diplomats, exchanges between students from the two countries, and cultural interaction between the two countries.

“Since the launch of the activity, the “Belt and Road” themed practical activities have won the recognition of embassies of various countries and have become an important link between schools and embassies for Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges.” Hu Aiguo, Secretary of the Party Branch of Chaoyang District Experimental Primary School in Beijing, introduced. At present, the school has established contacts with 14 embassies in China. Students have visited the embassies of Pakistan, Kenya, Poland, Hungary, Brazil, Belarus and other countries to learn about the national conditions of each country at close range. At the same time, they have also brought Chinese traditional culture into the embassy. For example, students performed Peking Opera on-site for the embassy staff and presented calligraphy, paper-cutting and other works.

In order to benefit more students, the school also invited experts to the campus to give lectures on "One Belt, One Road" knowledge; each class held "'Belt and Road' Hand in Hand 'One Class, One Country' Seeing the World' themed practical activities, students designed themed handwritten newspapers, paintings, and wrote about their experiences in the embassy activities. At the same time, the school has also intensified curriculum reform and integrated the “Belt and Road” educational activities into various courses, such as introducing the unique etiquette and customs of various countries in the English class; singing national anthems and characteristic songs of various countries in the music class; understanding and making unique costumes of various countries in the clothing class; and creating scenic spots in various countries through paper-cutting and woodblock painting in the art class.

Chen Lihua, principal of Chaoyang District Experimental Primary School, believes that carrying out such practical activities in primary schools plants a patriotic seed in the hearts of students, allowing students to truly perceive and practice the core socialist values. In the future education and teaching, we will continue to carry out "One Belt, One Road" themed education activities, open elective courses with "One Belt, One Road" as the theme, edit students' "One Belt, One Road" learning achievement manuals, etc., to cultivate builders who have both Chinese feelings and global vision.
