On August 26, Xiaomi Group Chairman and CEO Lei Jun said that in the past two years, Xiaomi has invested in 12 smart manufacturing and semiconductor chip industries, and three companies have been listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board in the past two months.

At the opening ceremony of the Second China International Intelligent Industry Expo held in Chongqing that day, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi listed AIOT as an equally important strategy as mobile phones at the beginning of this year, and launched a dual-engine strategy of mobile phones and AIOT, promising to invest 10 billion yuan in the AIOT field in the next five years.

Regarding AIOT business performance, Lei Jun said that in addition to mobile phones as the core engine, Xiaomi's AIOT field also includes TVs, notebooks, smart speakers, routers and a rich intelligent hardware ecological chain. The revenue of this business in the first half of the year reached 27 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 49%.

In other businesses, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi formed the Xiaomi Industry Fund two years ago and is deeply involved in the manufacturing industry. In the past two years, Xiaomi has invested in 12 smart manufacturing and semiconductor chip industries, and three of them have been listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board in the past two months.

In terms of 5G, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi began previewing 5G technology and 5G mobile phones three years ago. The first 5G mobile phone was released in Europe this year, and Xiaomi’s second 5G mobile phone is expected to be released in China in September.
