Yang Yuanqing: Lenovo has applied for more than 500 5G patents
Beijing News (Reporter Chen Weicheng) On August 26, at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Smart Expo and the Big Data Intelligence Summit, Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group, said that he would sign a contract with the Chongqing Municipal Government to invest in the construction of a 5G cloud network research and development base, including application, interaction and display centers, and national laboratories. A 5G smart equipment manufacturing base will be established based on business development needs. Cumulative sales in the next five years are expected to exceed 10 billion yuan.
Yang Yuanqing believes that the realization of intelligence is inseparable from the vigorous development of three elements. The first is the vigorous development of the IOT Internet of Things. More and more smart terminals and sensors are emerging, generating massive amounts of data. When combined with data on the Internet and data generated by enterprise informatization, industry big data is formed, which can provide fuel for intelligence.
"Then there is the vigorous development of infrastructure. High-performance computing provides more powerful computing power. Cloud computing and edge computing provide ubiquitous computing power. 5G network brings improvements in data transmission speed and capacity. It is the engine of intelligence in improving the ability of computing power support in the intelligent era." Yang Yuanqing introduced.
Yang Yuanqing said that the vigorous development of advanced algorithms such as artificial intelligence and machine learning uses existing data as fuel and computers as engines. Through advanced algorithms of big data, combined with the energy consumption of various industries, more accurate decision-making results and more efficient business processes can be produced.
Yang Yuanqing introduced that Lenovo has invested in the 5G field for many years. So far, it has applied for more than 500 5G patents. It was the first in the industry to release 5G PCs and 5G mobile phones, and also established a 5G network and solution business. In the past 3-4 years, Lenovo has promoted intelligent transformation starting from the intelligent Internet of Things, intelligent infrastructure and industry intelligence. In terms of smart IoT devices, not only computers and mobile phone devices have become smarter, but also the development of smart homes, smart offices, smart manufacturing, smart cities, smart education, etc. has spawned more new types of commercial IoT terminals, embedded modules and edge computing servers.
