The first batch of four Chinese tourists who were injured in a car accident in northern Laos took a flight back home from Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the afternoon of the 22nd.

At 3:40 pm local time on the 22nd, three injured Chinese tourists, including two seriously injured, were escorted by medical staff of the "Peace Train" medical team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and took off from Vientiane Wattay Airport on a new modified Z-8G ambulance helicopter to return home. Later, medical personnel from the People's Liberation Army Medical Team escorted another seriously injured Chinese tourist back to Kunming on China Eastern Airlines flight MU2574.

The four injured are all over 71 years old, with the oldest being 79 years old. According to the "Peace Train" medical team, these wounded people have been initially treated by the medical team and their condition is stable and meet the conditions for evacuation. They will be sent to the 920th Hospital of the PLA Joint Logistics Support Force in Kunming for further treatment.

Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong went to the airport to express condolences to the injured and their families who were about to return home, and directed and coordinated related matters on the spot.

On August 19, a serious accident occurred on a tour bus carrying more than 40 Chinese tourists about 40 kilometers outside the ancient city of Luang Prabang in northern Laos, killing 13 people and injuring 31 others. The Lao driver and tour guide were also slightly injured. The Chinese People's Liberation Army's "Peace Train" medical team to Laos, which is participating in the "Peace Train-2019" joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise and medical service activity between the Chinese and Lao armies in Laos, went to Luang Prabang on the 20th and brought 20 seriously injured Chinese tourists to Vientiane for treatment.
