According to the Hong Kong SAR Government News Network, Chief Superintendent of the Public Relations Division of the Hong Kong Police, Tse Chun-chung, said that online bullying and the disclosure of other people's personal information, commonly known as "dogging", are equivalent to harming others. He called on the public to exercise personal freedoms and rights while taking others into consideration and not to act arbitrarily.

Tse Chun-chung stated at a police press conference on the 22nd that a series of remarks and online bullying incidents that incited others to commit violent acts have recently appeared online. He reiterated that no matter what the citizens' demands are, they cannot resort to violence.

Superintendent Mok Junjie of the Cybersecurity and Technology Crime Investigation Bureau said that since June, the personal information of a total of 1,614 police officers and police officers’ family members has been systematically and illegally disclosed online, including their names, dates of birth, ID cards, addresses and phone numbers, as well as photos of the police officers’ children, and information such as the schools and classes they attend.

He said that some police officers and their families were harassed and intimidated to varying degrees, some of which involved criminal elements. For example, he pointed out that some people sent threatening letters to police dormitories, harassed police families at their workplaces, and also made nuisance calls and text messages.

He reiterated that Hong Kong laws also apply to online illegal activities, and the police will definitely investigate such cases in depth. He pointed out that since June, 16 people have been arrested on suspicion of illegal disclosure of information, illegal entry into computer systems to obtain information, etc.

Mo Junjie also said that there is a lot of false information circulating on the Internet, and the public should pay attention to the source of information and verify and compare more to prevent being misled.
