According to reports, air traffic control command work is actually very much like a relay race, and is completed by different controllers working together in sections. A departing flight completes the process of taxiing to take-off under the command of the tower controller. After leaving the ground, the terminal controller takes over the aircraft and continues to direct its ascent. After reaching the designated route, it is handed over to the regional controller. On the contrary, incoming flights are also completed in three stages from the area to the terminal and then to the tower. Terminal control plays a role in "connecting the previous and the following". Simply put, the main responsibility of the terminal control center is to guide outgoing aircraft to the main air route and line up incoming aircraft to the runway. This period of time is the top priority for passenger safety, approximately ten minutes after the plane takes off and ten minutes before landing.

In what aspects is “maximum” embodied? The reporter learned that, first of all, the terminal control center started construction on July 18, 2017, and the civil engineering project was accepted on June 30, 2019. It consists of five single buildings, including the terminal control building, the control training building, and the training student dormitory. The total construction area is 65,975 square meters, which is second to none in the country. Secondly, the control hall is equipped with 56 control seats, which is also the most in the country. It can not only meet the current operation needs, but also meet the control operation needs in the next 10 years. The most noteworthy thing is that it will coordinate and command the medium and low-altitude flight operations of three airports in Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing and Tianjin Binhai. It is also the first terminal control center in the country to simultaneously command three million-level airports in one terminal area. In the long run, Shijiazhuang Zhengding Airport will also be commanded by it, so the Beijing Terminal Control Center is called the "most powerful brain" of "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei" civil aviation transportation and will effectively support the national "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei" integration strategy.

According to statistics, by 2021, the Beijing Terminal Control Center is expected to command an average of about 2,900 flights per day, making it the busiest terminal area in the country. The airspace area of ​​the new terminal area will be expanded to 34,500 square kilometers, which is nearly 90% larger than the current terminal control area.
