The Economic and Social Development Achievement Report released by the National Bureau of Statistics on the 20th to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China shows that in the 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, my country's total employment has increased, its structure has been optimized, and the quality of employment has significantly improved.

The report shows that salary income is growing rapidly. In 2018, the average salary of people employed in non-private units in my country's urban areas reached 82,461 yuan, which was 134 times that of 1978. The average annual growth rate reached 13%. After deducting price factors, the actual increase was 18.3 times, and the average annual real growth rate was 7.7%.

Better work-life balance. The report shows that when the People’s Republic of China was first founded, our country implemented a single-day work system, with a total of 59 statutory rest days throughout the year. After the reform and opening up, in order to fully protect employees' vacation rights, after many improvements, a weekend work system was finally formed. Together with statutory holidays and paid annual leave, the number of rest days throughout the year can reach more than 120 days. In recent years, the country has promulgated a series of laws and regulations to clearly stipulate the working hour system, overtime pay, etc. Enterprise employment has become more standardized, and overtime employment has been alleviated, effectively reducing the work burden of workers. At the end of 2018, the average weekly working hours of employees in Chinese enterprises was 46 hours.
